The Pathway to Purpose Scholarship Program, initiated by Bright Star and St. James, supports deserving youth and adults from both congregations in their pursuit of higher education by providing financial assistance. The program promotes academic excellence, community service, and purposeful engagement to invest in the next generation’s success.

$1,200 for High School Seniors Enrolling College Freshmen

Pastor Stovall Memorial Scholarship
$1,500 for Undergraduate and Graduate College Students

Pastor Chris Harris Alternative Scholarship
$1,000 for students pursuing Trade School or Higher Education courses
Eligibility Requirements:
Reside in Chicago or surrounding suburbs
A member of Bright Star or St. James Ministries
Active member for 2yrs+ and financial contribution to either church (guardian or adult).
Acceptance/Enrollment in accredited institutions
High School Seniors or Adults entering UG or Grad School or Trade school (depending on scholarship)
GPA Requirement HS 2.75+; UG applicants 3; Grad applicant 3.3+
Expectations for Scholarship Participants
Bishop Campbell Reach Scholar - Attend annual fundraiser Community Service 15 hrs. with Bright Star/St James entity (BSCO, BSC, STJM, BSCDC)
Pastor Stovall Memorial Scholarship - Attend annual fundraiser Community Service 15 hrs. with Bright Star/St James entity (BSCO, BSC, STJM, BSCDC)
Pastor Chris Harris Alternative Scholarship - Attend annual fundraiser Community Service 20 hrs. with Bright Star/St James entity (BSCO, BSC, STJM, BSCDC)
